Become a member of the Nottingham Society of Artists and you'll be able to take advantage of our own art studio, workshop and gallery at St Luke's House in the centre of Nottingham. We cater for all levels of ability from beginners through to professional. We share a passion for learning and appreciating the skills that make good art. We offer.......
Membership of the Society is open to everyone over the age of 18. Members pay an annual subscription of £75 which entitles them to participate in the painting groups and join in any other activities supported by the Society. The groups practice Life, Clothed Model, Portrait and Still Life drawing and painting and meet six days and three evenings a week. You can go to as many groups as you wish and you may join at any point during the year.
If you wish to exhibit in Society exhibitions in our attractive ground floor gallery you may apply to become an Exhibiting Member. You can download an application form from this website or obtain one from the gallery. You can send in the completed form at any time, but applications are processed twice a year at the Fellows' meetings in March and September.
After submission, you will receive a letter explaining what you need to do, which includes submitting 3 finished works together with a small portfolio of about 6 items just before the relevant Fellows meeting.
Successful applicants become Exhibiting Members of the Society at the Affiliate level, and may subsequently progress through Associate level and possibly become a Fellow of the Society. Exhibiting Members pay an additional annual subscription fee of £15 which covers exhibition costs.
The following groups currently run in the studio at St Luke's House. Note that the studio is on the second floor of the building, accessed by stairs only - there is no lift. Easels, boards, tables, and chairs are provided, but you should bring your own materials. For groups employing a model there is a small contribution to cover the model's fee. Refreshments are available in our well appointed kitchen.
